Who is your favourite

LGBTQ+ character,

and why?

My favourite LGBTQ+ fictional character is Batwoman because I love comics and the Batman mythos, and Batwoman is an awesome and badass part of that and I love her. Madeline/Female/17/Australia

My favorite LGBT character is Angel Dumott Schunard simply because he represents all that was real in the 1980's AIDS crisis. He was able to bring about the reality of plenty of social relationships, people living with HIV/AIDS and the feelings and mercilessness of the disease. That and him/her being gay wasn’t the biggest part of them, but their ability to control the room. Alexandrea/18/Female/USA

My favourite LGBTQ+ character is Captain Holt from Brooklyn 99. He's a funny, well thought out character who is very open and proud about his sexuality. Oliver/Male/16/Australia

I have many LGBT characters I like from different media platforms. I’d have to say Patrick from The Perks of being a Wallflower because he was true about himself and about his feelings. He was himself through and through. Pedro/Male/20/Mexico

My fave is Blaine from Glee because he went through a lot in the show, what with the war between the Glee Club and the Warblers. Emma/Evan/Genderfluid/19/USA

My favourite LGBTQ+ character is probably Darryl Whitefeather from ‘Crazy-Ex Girlfriend’. Mostly because he starts out on the show as a straight man, then he’s questioning, and then he realises he’s bisexual, which is something often not represented on TV. He then sings an entire song about it (Getting Bi) to his coworkers when he comes out, which is a very empowering song that makes me laugh whenever I hear it. Sarah/Female/20/Australia

The first one that comes to mind is Magnus Bane from the Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare. Though the series isn’t great about it’s treatment of LGBTQ+ characters, Magnus is a character that helped me embrace my feminine qualities as a young trans child rather than reject them to try to fit in to the model of what it is to “be a man”. I have long hair and wear makeup now as a trans male adult because I was exposed to flamboyant but powerful LGBTQ+ male characters such as Magnus Bane as a kid. Harmon/Male/20/USA
